On Sunday, October 13th, the Italian Heritage Parade & Festa on The Hill presents The Red Sauce Challenge, a tasting competition of Italian cuisine’s staple. The winner will receive a coveted Golden Ticket to compete at the World Food Championships!
Whether they call it Sugo, Amatriciana, Bolognese, Marinara, or Pommodoro – competitors can enter whichever red sauce floats their gravy boat. Contestants provide a quart of their best red sauce recipe to be judged by our great city’s top influencers. The contest will feature a home cook flight and a professional flight. Twelve slots, 6 in each grouping, with one winner awarded a Golden Ticket.
Judges dip fresh-from-The-Hill bread into each of the sauces and score them live in person. Results will be tabulated and announced before the musical entertainer’s last set. WFC State Partner Show Me Series will host a booth illuminated by Pepe Kehm of Peno Soul Food and Rose by Peno with Italian sweet bites, along with a raffle of baskets from contest sponsors.
