Board Talk June 2024

-Jennifer Gianino

Summer is my favorite season! From Cardinals games, to visits to the Saint Louis Zoo and Missouri Botanical Garden, enjoying dinner on a restaurant patio, a day spent at the pool or a golf cart ride in the neighborhood, summer is full of joy and excitement! It’s a time when the world seems to burst with possibilities, and every moment holds the promise of adventure.

As the days stretch lazily into the warm embrace of the evening, children’s laughter fills the air, echoing through the community. They run barefoot through the splash pad at Berra Park, their faces full of carefree smiles and laughter, chasing after the fleeting wonders of fireflies that flicker like tiny stars against the night sky.

Summer invites us to explore the great outdoors and revel in the wonders of nature. There are so many opportunities to enjoy summer on The Hill and throughout St. Louis – there’s no shortage of ways to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the season. As the sun begins to set, it paints the sky in colorful shades of oranges and pinks, while we share stories and s’mores beneath the magic of twinkling stars.

But summer isn’t just about outdoor adventures; it’s also a time for indulging in the simple pleasures of life. It’s the season of ice-cold lemonade on sweltering afternoons and of lazy days spent lounging by the pool with a good book in hand (my favorite way to spend a lazy weekend!).

So let’s raise a glass to the magic of summer, to days filled with sunshine and laughter, and nights alive with the promise of adventure. For in the radiant warmth of the summer sun, we find not just fleeting moments of joy, but a reminder of the boundless beauty that surrounds us, waiting to be explored and embraced.
